Every year, Austin Career takes a whole school field trip to Millennium Park to build a sense of school community and to enjoy the nice weather on Chicago's Lakefront. This year, we decided to structure a class around it, and practice three (3) laearning skills: 1) Strategic Thinking 2) Planning Action a3) Different Perspectives We started by looking at the Scavenger Hunt list. At first, it was like pulling teeth, and I wondered if I had a classroom full of living zombies. Then we slowly got into it! We divided up the Scavenger Hunt list items based on who wanted to do what; looked on the map and planned our most effective route; and wrote down cellphone numbers of the group leaders in case we got separated. We got on the buses, and then it was go time! Buckingham Fountain was our first item on the list.
